ABSTRACT
Based on a ±10 kV three-terminal MMC-MVDC (medium voltage DC distribution system based modular multilevel converter) system, in this study, the authors mainly study influencing factors and protection schemes of lightning intruding overvoltage (including direct back-flashover lightning). Firstly, simulation model using overhead lines is established PSCAD/EMTDC program. The influence steady-state operating number converter stations results are simulated analysed. Meanwhile, proper modelling method for multi-terminal proposed. Secondly, when line struck by stroke current that occurs once 20 years different Finally, impulse withstand voltage, trip-out rate cost schemes, scenarios show if prioritised, scheme increasing parallel stacks DL arresters can be selected, power supply reliability installing ground wire as well reducing grounding resistance selected.
