ABSTRACT
This paper presents parametric design studies of the on-board Electrical Power System (EPS) for a distributed hybrid aircraft propulsion. The work methodology that has been adopted to develop physics-based models EPS components comprise electrical machines, power electronic converters, batteries, solid state circuit breakers and cables. The model is sizing tool can be used evaluate mass dimensions its main components. In addition, it determines thermal performance over six key flight stages mission. The created within wider multidisciplinary platform with aim overall configuration including system, gas turbines electrically propelled fans together structure. This focusses on assessments three parameters which are battery specific energy density, electric propulsion split ratio between generator battery. The assessment results demonstrate significant impact aforementioned have weight battery, system hence fuel burn. The developed Clean Sky 2 TRADE project vital as develops applies important tools required identify optimum solutions amidst large number available conceptual architectures.
