Unit cell with flexible transmission phase slope for ultra‐wideband transmitarray antennas

ABSTRACT
Having studied the transmitarray antennas, it is found that the cells depending on their location on the antenna aperture should have a specific slope in the transmission phase diagram in terms of frequency. The central cell has the most negative slope, and as long as the centre is farther away, the negative slope of the transmission phase diagram in terms of frequency is reduced. Therefore, the ability to change the slope of the transmission phase diagram in terms of frequency in the unit cell is essential. To validate the proposed approach, by providing a suitable unit cell, a typical X‐band antenna with an aperture size of 20.55λ02 at 10 GHz has been designed, fabricated, and tested. In order to evaluate the effect of the transmit array aperture, the gain enhancement value of the antenna is calculated and maximum gain of 5.9 dBi at 10.5 GHz and a 29.71% 1 dB gain bandwidth is achieved.
