ABSTRACT
The location of the atrioventricular conduction axis in setting septal defect has previously been shown by histology and intraoperative recordings. We have now reassessed arrangement using phase-contrast computed tomography, aiming to provide precise measurements so as optimize future surgical repairs. used system based on an X-ray Talbot grating interferometer beamline BL20B2 a SPring-8 synchrotron radiation facility available Japan. analyzed 18 specimens. node was found within nodal triangle 1.7 mm from coronary sinus, with 95% confidence intervals 1.45 2.0 millimeters. depth right atrial endocardium 1.0 mm, 0.73 1.34 mm. overall length scooped-out ventricular septum 30.8 27.5 34.1 inferior junction take-off bundle branch 12.8 11.12 14.38 giving ratio 0.43 for extent along septum, 0.38–0.48. non-branching 6.6 5.57 7.7 proportion occupied 0.22, 0.18 0.26. Our findings confirm previous histological studies, extending them providing guide placement sutures during repair. Central MessageUse phase contrast tomography revealed hearts defect.Perspective StatementNo provided repair defects common avoid iatrogenic heart block. validate investigations, permitting be assessed three-dimensional reconstructions.
