ABSTRACT
Background and study aims The use of lumen apposing metal stents (LAMS) during EUS-guided transmural drainage (EUS-TD) pancreatic walled-off necrosis (WON) has gained popularity. Data supporting their in WON over plastic (PS), however, remain scarce. aim this was to compare the clinical efficacy LAMS (Axios, Boston Scientific) with PS WON. Patients methods This a multicenter, retrospective involving 14 centers. Consecutive patients who underwent EUS-TD (2012 - 2016) were included. primary end point success defined as size ≤ 3 cm within 6-month period without need for percutaneous (PCD) or surgery. Results A total 189 (mean age 55.2 ± 15.6 years, 34.9 % female) included (102 87 PS). Technical rates similar: 100 98.9 ( P = 0.28). Clinical attained 80.4 57.5 0.001). Rate PCD similar (13.7 vs. 16.3 PS, 0.62), while associated greater surgery (16.1 5.6 LAMS, 0.02). Adverse events (AEs) observed 9.8 10.3 0.90) rated severe 2.0 6.9 %, respectively 0.93). After excluding < 6 months follow-up, rate recurrence following initial (22.9 0.04). Conclusions When compared is higher success, shorter procedure time, lower surgery, recurrence.
