ABSTRACT
A popliteal venous aneurysm is rare but needs to be considered a silent threat due the risk of pulmonary embolism.Using report an exemplary case, diagnostic and therapeutic management including outcome described. In particular, favourable, case-adapted surgical approach aneurysma resection direct suture vascular wall because extraordinary right vein emphasised.A 50-year-old woman underwent duplex ultrasonography pain in fossa, which revealed vein. The diagnosis was confirmed by phlebography. During approach, explored subsequently excised. defect directly sutured avoiding stenotic segment postoperative course uneventful. Postoperatively, oral anticoagulation with coumarins initiated for 6 months; follow-up investigations using at 12 months showed patent no thrombotic changes.According recommendations from international literature, venorrhaphy or absolutely indicated prevent embolism, especially mostly younger patients.
