ABSTRACT
Purpose To analyze the prognostic factors influencing subjective and objective outcomes return to play (RTP) after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACL-R). Methods Primary ACL-Rs using a transtibial technique performed between 2008 2012 were included. Data regarding patients, surgery, sports, rehabilitation, including an on-field rehabilitation (OFR) duration of program, collected. The International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) evaluation forms, Injury Osteoarthritis Outcome Score Lysholm questionnaires used for assessment outcomes. Subjective Patient Return Sports ACL–return sport injury (RSI) scores RTP evaluation. Several potential predictors outcome tested with univariate analysis. All variables p < 0.1 retested in logistic regression model evaluate their association Results In total, 176 cases included average follow-up 44.1 months. Of 92.2% rated as normal or nearly at IKDC addition, 90.1% patients returned sport, 57.6% returning same preinjury level. Objective negatively influenced by late (odds ratio [OR] = 2.75). Performing OFR phase during was associated better (OR 2.71). Length strongly rate 13.16). Conversely, higher ACL-RSI score inversely related RTP. 0.31), whereas correlated both total 0.15) level activity 0.20). Conclusion This study confirmed role on Particularly, complete adherence phase, resulted rate. relationship psychological factors, measured through score, confirmed. Level Evidence III, observational without control group.
