ABSTRACT
Objective To examine the association between maternal obesity on left ventricular (LV) size and recovery in women with peripartum cardiomyopathy (PPCM). Study Design This was a prospective analysis of 100 enrolled within 13 weeks PPCM diagnosis followed for year Investigation Pregnancy Associated Cardiomyopathy study. Adiposity defined by standard body mass index (BMI) definitions under/normal weight, overweight, obesity. Demographic, clinical, biomarker variables were compared across weight categories. Outcomes LV end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD) ejection fraction measured at entry, 6, 12 months postpartum. Multivariable regression models examined relationship adiposity, size, leptin levels cardiac 6 Results Obese nonobese had similar dysfunction entry. greater less BMI positively associated diameter. Greater entry remained (p = 0.02) adjusted race-stratified models. LVEDD predicted lower < 0.001) similarly months. Conclusion remodeling, higher levels, diminished recovery.
