ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to compare the differences in self-reported oral health attitudes and behaviour between preclinical clinical dental students Turkey using Hiroshima University Dental Behavioural Inventory (HU-DBI).A Turkish version HU-DBI questionnaire with additional 7 questions, totally 27 items, distributed among 1022 students.The response rate 75% (486 278 students). Significantly higher (P=0.000) percentage students, compared worry about colour their teeth, are bothered by gums, put off going dentist until they have a toothache; think that teeth getting worse despite daily brushing, it is impossible prevent gum disease tooth brushing alone, cannot help having false when old. Moreover, more frequently agree on gums tend bleed brush use toothbrush which has hard bristles, don't feel they've brushed well unless strong strokes (P=0.000). However, proportion each carefully, can clean without toothpaste, had tell them very score (7.47±1.86) significantly than (6.00±1.86).Dental should comprehensive program, including self-care regimes, starting from first year education.
