ABSTRACT
Abstract Purpose To retrospectively characterize the prevalence and impact of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) as a guidance technique for biopsy liver target lesions (LTLs) at six interventional centers. Materials Methods The participating centers selected all patients in whom needles were positioned LTLs during CEUS. CEUS-guided biopsies each center between 2005 2016, contrast agent consumption, procedure indications, diagnostic yield complications assessed. Informed consent was obtained patients. Results carried out 103 (68 M/35 F, median age: 69 yrs) with (median size: 20 mm) using cutting (18 – g) 94 cases (91.2 %). represented 2.6 % (range: 0.8 7.7 %) 3818 on Indications to were: lesion not visible non-enhanced US (27.2 %), improvement conspicuity (33 choice non-necrotic area inside (39.8 26 (25.2 had previously non-diagnostic cyto-histological exam. accuracy 99 %. No major followed infusion or performance. Conclusion indications are limited, but CEUS can be useful challenging clinical scenarios, e. g. poorly visualized invisible sampling areas lesions. There is also potential advantage guide repeat after unsuccessful performed standard technique.
