Clinical Characteristics and Burden of IgG4-Related Disease in the United Arab Emirates

ABSTRACT
Abstract Background There is a scarcity of literature detailing the demographic and clinical data concerning immunoglobulin G4–related disease (IgG4-RD) within population UAE. Objective This retrospective follow-up study aimed to investigate characteristics IgG4-RD in an Arab cohort receiving treatment at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Patients Methods Data were collected from 28 patients diagnosed with Dhabi between April 1, 2015 May 31, 2023. The employed rigorous inclusion exclusion criteria, utilizing American College Rheumatology (ACR)/European Alliance Associations for (EULAR) 2019 criteria classification. Comprehensive analysis electronic health records included demographics, history, laboratory results, specifics. received ethical approval. Results median age time initial symptoms was 42 ± 3 years (median standard deviation) that diagnosis 47 4.6 years, 5-year lag period presentation establishing diagnosis. most common constitutional (71%) followed by low back pain experienced 54% due mass effect. In terms organ involvement, 89% exhibited single being affected. kidney frequently involved (46%). Treatment glucocorticoids, often combined methotrexate azathioprine, rituximab. Conclusion highlights unique features population, including younger absence pancreatic involvement. findings emphasize need national registry understand prevalence, raise awareness, guide care strategies IgG4-RD.
