ABSTRACT
Patient education is considered to be a major feature of medical rehabilitation in chronic disorders. The sciences research programme funded by the German Pension Insurance scheme and Federal Ministry Education Research comprises considerable number evaluation studies carried out with methodological rigor. Over two funding periods, patient programmes were developed evaluated respect their medical, psychosocial, occupational economic effects. In this article, conceptual definition presented. Then, aims results ten as well several implementation projects are described. When integrating these into previous taking both national international perspective, it can concluded that effective regarding psychosocial socio-economic outcomes, although effects sizes may vary. However, some disorders state still unsatisfactory either scarce or heterogeneous. particular, unclear whether such widely used on routine basis. Several provide train-the-trainer opportunities, others process development evaluation. Implementation those described article aimed at closing gaps disseminating practice rehabilitation.
