Percutaneous Transcystic Cholangioscopy for Combined Treatment of Gallbladder and Bile Duct Stones

ABSTRACT
A procedure for percutaneous transcystic cholangioscopy requiring only one transhepatic fistulous tract to remove stones located in both the gallbladder and bile ducts is described. The begins with drainage of or duct. Stones duct can be removed under direct vision on cholangioscopy. Larger fragmented by electrohydraulic lithotripsy before removal. In a preliminary trial proved feasible method treatment 13 patients as well septic cholangitis who either refused operation were considered poor candidates surgery. On long-term follow-up (mean period 28 months) stone recurrence was observed three patients.
