ABSTRACT
Families of children with feeding disorders frequently present to primary care settings. Although providers are often knowledgeable about medical and developmental etiologies, behavioral etiologies may go unidentified untreated. In this article, the authors review a biobehavioral approach for assessment treatment disorders. First, factors that affect development behaviors described including sensitive periods acquiring skills effects interpersonal relationships on feeding. Second, conceptualization strategies discussed use questionnaires, caregiver interviews, observations. Third, uses structure, manipulation hunger, contingency management, shaping, parent training. Finally, consideration various options considered integration psychology as part an interdisciplinary team intensive protocols include inpatient programs.
