ABSTRACT
Although construction is often seen as an outdoor activity, much of the work completed indoors. The indoor environment presents many challenges for automatic capture data during progress monitoring, quality control, quantity verification, and overall project documentation. This paper examines potential using robots, more specifically, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) systems (UAS), to monitor sites. UAVs have become ubiquitous due their commercialization off-the-shelf tool. However, facilitate automation mundane challenging activities in very high. Unfortunately, they also come with some important challenges. explores applications UAV sites, benefits, A sample benefits this technology include in-flight agility, capacity hold array sensors, potential. Challenges safety risks if distract or interfere workers, navigation within ever changing surroundings, battery limits, impacts automation. Finally, a multi-sensory smart UAS respect emerging technologies such internet things (IoT) possible solutions are discussed.
