ABSTRACT
The Cyprus Institute's Pentakomo Field Facility (PFF) is a major infrastructure for research, development and testing of technologies relating to concentrated solar power (CSP) seawater desalination. It located at the south coast near sea its environmental conditions are fully monitored. provides test facility specializing in CSP systems suitable island coastal environments with particular emphasis on small units (<25 MWth) endowed substantial storage, use isolation or distributed grids. first experiment take place PFF concerns pilot/experimental co-generation electricity desalinated from CSP. Specifically, experimental plant consists heliostat-central receiver system harvesting, thermal energy storage molten salts followed by Rankine cycle production multiple-effect distillation (MED) unit
