The weakening of the postwar nexus a productivist agriculture and distinctive system regulating rural economy has created new challenges for British institutions. task diversifying farm economies required institutions to change how they operate. Using concept local mode social regulation (MSR) we explore interrelationships between development alternative farming systems institutional regulatory environment, using as case study an area in northern England. We conclude by demonstrating cope with policy challenges. diversity responses this challenge is illustrated links national MSRs are explored.
