ABSTRACT
Study of the Cenomanian–Turonian and Plio–Quaternary aquifers Essaouira basin (Western Morocco), based on interpretation geochemical (major elements) isotopic (18O, 2H, 13C 14C) data, has aided understanding hydrodynamics these aquifers, which is greatly affected by tectonics. Hydrochemical characteristics bivariate diagrams major ions (Cl–, SO42–, NO3–, HCO3–, Na+, Mg2+, K+ Ca2+) electrical conductivity mineral saturation indices indicate that origins groundwater mineralisation are result of: (1) evaporite dissolution; (2) cation exchange reactions; (3) evaporation processes. Radiogenic isotopes (3H have highlighted presence significant recent recharge in eastern part basin, with moving according to general flow path (south-east north-west). Stable isotope data from plot along Global Meteoric Water Line below Local Line. This suggests been recharged under several different climate regimes.
