ABSTRACT
Obesity is a risk factor for the development of many severe human diseases such as cardiovascular disorders, diabetes, and cancer, which are tightly linked to angiogenesis. The adipose tissue produces several growth factors/hormones including leptin, tumor necrosis α, adiponectin. It has been found that adiponectin levels reduced in obesity. Here, we report unique function negative regulator In vitro , potently inhibits endothelial cell proliferation migration. chick chorioallantoic membrane mouse corneal angiogenesis assays, remarkably prevents new blood vessel growth. Further, demonstrate antiendothelial mechanisms involve activation caspase-mediated apoptosis. Adiponectin induces cascade caspases-8, -9, -3, leads death. model, significantly primary Impaired associated with decreased neovascularization, leading increased These data induction apoptosis an mechanism adiponectin-induced antiangiogenesis. Adiponectin, direct endogenous inhibitor, may have therapeutic implications treatment angiogenesis-dependent diseases.
