ABSTRACT
Stem cell therapy has emerged as a promising tool for the treatment of variety diseases. Previously, we have shown that Akt-modified mesenchymal stem cells mediate tissue repair through paracrine mechanisms. Using comprehensive functional genomic strategy, show secreted frizzled related protein 2 (Sfrp2) is key factor mediates myocardial survival and after ischemic injury. Sfrp2 known to modulate Wnt signaling, demonstrate cardiomyocytes treated with increase cellular beta-catenin up-regulate expression antiapoptotic genes. These findings reveal role played by in mediating effects Akt-mesenchymal on identify modulation signaling therapeutic target heart disease.
