ABSTRACT
Significance Compared with vesicle exocytosis and endocytosis, relatively little is known about recycling. Here, we developed a novel methodological approach, potentially applicable to all axosomatic synapses, quantify the kinetics of recycling exquisite signal temporal resolution. Using this approach combined electron-microscopic observations, estimated that ∼80% synaptic vesicles participate in provided an explanation reconcile discrepancies previous reports. We kinetically dissected calyceal terminal, defined new concept readily priming pool, proposed realistic kinetic model basic properties These findings contribute filling gap understanding recycling, particularly postendocytotic trafficking.
