ABSTRACT
Atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) is a cardiac hormone essential for the regulation of blood pressure. In myocytes, ANP synthesized as precursor, pro-ANP, that converted to biologically active by an unknown membrane-associated protease. Recently, we cloned transmembrane serine protease, corin, highly expressed in heart. this study, examine effects corin on pro-ANP processing. Our results show recombinant human converts and cleavage sequence specific. findings suggest long-sought pro-ANP-converting enzyme corin-mediated activation may play role regulating
