ABSTRACT
Significance Rechargeable potassium batteries are promising alternatives of Li owing to the earth abundance and low cost potassium. The safety K metal battery involving highly reactive flammable organic electrolyte remains poor, risking fire hazards during use. This work presents development an ionic liquid that allows safe high-performance batteries. An impressive capacity retention 89% after 820 cycles is achieved with a high average Coulombic efficiency 99.9%. Moreover, can safely stably at 60 °C. provides insights future design innovation other toward long-life energy storage.
