ABSTRACT
Significance To address the public health challenges caused by spread of antibiotic resistance, it is critical to enhance our understanding mechanisms action these compounds. In present study, we use superresolved single-molecule tracking techniques, investigate effect three aminoglycoside drugs on protein synthesis kinetics directly inside live bacterial cells. Our results imply that do not completely inhibit synthesis, but only make slower. Hence, bactericidal likely due a disturbed, rather than inhibited, process.
