ABSTRACT
Significance Since sepsis induces a sustained immunosuppression responsible for secondary infections acquisition and late mortality, restoring immune function would result in a better outcome. Given the role of arginine deficiency in T cell dysfunction, the evaluation of restoring arginine availability in sepsis has to be explored. Using an animal model of sepsis, we demonstrated that increasing arginine availability enhanced mitochondrial T cell function and decreased sepsis-induced immunosuppression.
