ABSTRACT
A new theory of plasma equilibrium is introduced in which adiabatic constraints are specified. This leads to a mathematically nonstandard structure, as compared the usual theory, prescription pressure and current profiles an elliptic partial differential equation. Topologically complex configurations require further generalization concept adiabaticity allow irreversible mixing magnetic flux among islands. Matching conditions across boundary layer at separatrix obtained from appropriate conservation laws. Applications made with planned islands (as Doublet) accidental Tokamaks). Two-dimensional, axially symmetric, helically closed line equilibria included.
