ABSTRACT
At least three separate regions of the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) genome encode RNA in a cell line that is growth transformed and nonpermissively infected with EBV. Six polyadenylylated cytoplasmic RNAs have been identified from these regions. An abundant 3.0-3.1 kilobases (kb) long encoded by DNA internal reiteration, IR, maps at 25.7-30 megadaltons. A second, abundant, 2.9-kb primarily 110-03 megadaltons but probably has 3' end to left 110 third, 3.7-kb largely 63-66 5' 63 less-abundant 1.5-kb also IR. The least-abundant are 2.3 2.0 kb. These ends mapping 5-7 right 7 data suggest there may be two additional RNAs, 3-kb 26.2-30 minor 102-110 0.16-kb nonpolyadenylylated present cytoplasm IB-4 cells. This precipitates presence high concentrations magnesium, indicating it complexed protein or polyribosomes.
