ABSTRACT
Heterologous specific antisera against human mammary epithelial antigens (HME-Ags), which are present in the milk fat globule membrane and breast cells, were used a solid-phase radioimmunoassay to determine presence of these sera patients with disseminated cancer other organs. Breast carry high levels HME-Ags their circulation, while nonbreast cancer, as well normal female controls, do not. A similar release circulation was shown by us model system. To further corroborate findings, three-step procedure for extraction identification from devised. In this analytical procedure, circulating recovered on solid phase carrying corresponding antibody (anti-HME) radioiodinated situ. Later, labeled released characterized NaDodSO4 gel electrophoresis. With isolated but not or controls. The extracted had molecular masses 150,000, 70,000, 46,000 daltons. support monoclonal antibody, BLMRL-HMFG-Mc3, directed 46,000-dalton HME-Ag also extract its antigen sera. patient contained such controls did This highly sensitive methodology offers approach diagnosis insight into nature view increasing our understanding biology.
