ABSTRACT
We have determined the amino acid sequence of variable (V) region delta heavy (H) chain human IgD isolated from plasma myeloma patient WAH. This V is unusual in its end group (arginine) and length (129 residues). The due to 10 insertions third complementarity-determining (CDR3). A computer search showed that no reported CDR3-joining (-JH) sequences are identical they appear be unrelated constant (C) immunoglobulins. together with our previous results for C give complete WAH, which has 512 residues a Mr congruent 65,000. four domains (V, 1, 2, 3) long hinge region; by comparison, mouse lacks continuous segment 135 residues, including half entire 2 domain. chains also differ number, kind, location GlcN GalN glycans probably conformation quaternary structure. These other considerations suggest there may multiple forms both secreted membrane-bound size, structure, function.
