ABSTRACT
A growth factor (HGF) stimulating DNA synthesis of adult rat hepatocytes in primary culture was found platelets. HGF purified from platelets to homogeneity by a three-step procedure: stimulation its release thrombin, cation-exchanger fast protein liquid chromatography on Mono S column, and heparin-Sepharose chromatography. clearly distinguishable the platelet-derived (PDGF) heat- acid-labile cationic that inactivated reduction with dithiothreitol. Its molecular mass estimated be 27 kDa NaDodSO4/PAGE amino acid composition very different PDGF. The stimulated at 2 ng/ml maximally effective 20 ng/ml; effect additive or synergistic those insulin EGF, depending their combinations. did not stimulate Swiss 3T3 cells, while PDGF hepatocytes. Thus, showed cell specificity growth-promoting activities. These findings indicate is for mature
