ABSTRACT
The three members of the Brn-3 family POU domain transcription factors are found in highly restricted sets central nervous system neurons. Within retina, these present only within subsets ganglion cells. We show here that developing mouse Brn-3b protein is first observed presumptive cell precursors as they begin to migrate from zone dividing neuroblasts future layer, and targeted disruption gene leads homozygous state a selective loss 70% retinal In (-/-) mice other neurons retina brain minimally or not at all affected. These experiments indicate plays an essential role development specific types.
