ABSTRACT
The HNK-1 carbohydrate epitope is characteristically expressed on a series of cell adhesion molecules and also some glycolipids in the nervous system over wide range species from insect to mammal. involved cell–cell and/or cell–substrate interaction recognition during development system. In this study, we isolated novel glucuronyltransferase rat brain, which key enzyme biosynthesis glycoproteins. Based partial amino acid sequences, cDNA encoding glucuronyltransferase. primary structure deduced sequence predicted type II transmembrane protein with 347 acids had no detectable similarity any other proteins known functions, including glucuronyltransferases liver olfactory epithelium. Expression soluble recombinant form COS-1 cells produced an active selective expression gene was consistent almost exclusive localization Transfection into induced not only surface but marked morphological changes cells, suggesting that associates cell–substratum interaction.
