ABSTRACT
Eotaxin is an eosinophil-selective chemokine that constitutively expressed in a variety of organs such as the intestine. Previous studies have demonstrated recruitment eosinophils during inflammation partially dependent on eotaxin, but function constitutive eotaxin homeostasis has not been examined. To elucidate biological role this molecule, we now examine tissue levels healthy states wild-type and eotaxin-deficient mice. The lamina propria jejunum mice to express mRNA, mRNA for related monocyte chemoattractant proteins. Wild-type contained readily detectable jejunum. In contrast, genetically deficient had large selective reduction number residing was limited jejunum, because loss thymic also observed These demonstrate fundamental regulator physiological trafficking states. Because chemokines are expressed, their involvement baseline leukocytes into nonhematopoietic should be considered.
