ABSTRACT
Modification of the chirality a single amino acid residue within peptide chain appears to be novel additional mechanism leading structural and functional diversification eukaryotic bioactive peptides. This phenomenon has been studied at cellular level in neuroendocrine organ which elaborates mixture diastereoisomers 72-residue neuropeptide, crustacean hyperglycemic hormone. For first time, isomerization shown occur perikarya fully specialized neurosecretory cells, as late step maturation hormone precursor after propeptide cleavage. The specificity efficiency this indicates existence new enzyme family involved biogenesis hormones.
