ABSTRACT
Abstract In this article, we discuss the concept of translanguaging by showing how theoretically unhelpful it is to account for language dynamics among Indigenous speakers leading revitalization projects in Southern Cone Latin America. We show clear-cut distinctions between Spanish and languages are crucial minority speakers’ socio-political struggles against cultural, political, social hegemony. open our discussion reviewing different definitions sociolinguistics applied linguistics. examine term sometimes overlaps with other previously established concepts such as code-switching code-mixing importance inscribing any historical context which they used. illustrate peoples’ understanding multilingualism challenges linguists’ discourse on translanguaging. Our analysis aims at prompting scholars reflect ideologies practices describe here understand attend more responsibly political concerns.
