Ethnobotanical studies on the Tyrrhenian side of the Aspromonte Massif (Calabria, Southern Italy)

ABSTRACT
A great deal of ethnobotanical knowledge, passed down from generation to by oral tradition, is still preserved in the Mediterranean basin. Over years, efforts have been made collect this information avoid losing heritage. This work a contribution towards knowledge Calabria (southern Italy) through survey on Tyrrhenian side Aspromonte Massif metropolitan city Reggio Calabria, an area that has little studied point view. For purpose, several semi-structured interviews were conducted with informants current and past use spontaneous cultivated plants study area; data collected Microsoft Excel® spreadsheet then processed. Fifty-nine people interviewed. Results show most frequently used plant family Asteraceae, mentioned taxon Anethum piperitum (22 interviews), recurrent culinary, for preparation side-dishes. highlights presence cultures represents further region.
