The genetic relationship between Alune, Lisabata, Luhu, and Wemale (Western Seram, Indonesia): a historical-comparative linguistics approach

ABSTRACT
Language and cultural identity differences can easily lead to a small amount of warfare confrontation due lack sense belonging. This study examined the genetic relationship four languages spoken in Western Seram, consisting Alune, Lisabata, Luhu, Wemale, its urgency relation among existing tribes by stepping on qualitative quantitative evidence. To determine language kinship, 200 basic lexical items from Swadesh's lists were tested 12 informants. Along with that, 20 additional informants added for face-to-face interviews assess historical, philosophical, social, backgrounds. Despite inconsistencies phonological change regularities, results have revealed that Lisabata Luhu had highest percentage kinship at 64% 128 cognates, followed Alune 58% 116 57.5% 114 Wemale 49% 98 47.5% 95 45% 90 cognates. Evidence interconnectedness between family level within historical frame Nunusaku mythology be used further as milestone strengthen ethnic groups.
