ABSTRACT
Skeletal muscle contains myogenic progenitors called satellite cells and muscle-derived stem that have been suggested to be pluripotent. We further investigated the differentiation potential of elucidate relationships between these two populations cells. FACS® analysis side population (SP) cells, a fraction revealed expression hematopoietic cell marker Sca-1 but did not reveal any markers. Muscle SP were greatly enriched for competent form colonies. Moreover, with CD45 positive. However, differentiate into myocytes in vitro. By contrast, gave rise express or never formed Importantly, exhibited give both after intramuscular transplantation. In addition, underwent specification co-culture myoblasts. Co-culture myoblasts forced MyoD also induced prepared from mice lacking Pax7 gene, an essential gene development. Therefore, data document represent distinct demonstrate via myocyte-mediated inductive interaction.
