ABSTRACT
Mechanoreceptor cells develop a specialized cytoskeleton that plays structural and sensory roles at the site of mechanotransduction. However, little is known about how organized formed. Using electron tomography live-cell imaging, we resolve 3D structure dynamics microtubule-based in fly campaniform mechanosensory cilia. Investigating formation cytoskeleton, find katanin p60-like 1 (kat-60L1), neuronal type microtubule-severing enzyme, serves two functions. First, it amplifies mass microtubules to form dense microtubule arrays inside Second, generates short are required build nanoscopic mechanotransduction site. Additional analyses further reveal functional Patronin other potential factors local regulatory network.
