ABSTRACT
Presence of mast cell precursors in the mouse peritoneal cavity was demonstrated, and were characterized. When a suspension, containing precursor(s), directly injected into skin genetically cell-deficient WBB6F1 (WB X C57BL/6)-W/Wv mice, cluster composed approximately 2,000 cells appeared at injection site. By determining proportion sites which appeared, concentration can be calculated by limiting dilution analysis. The about five times as great bone marrow. Although shown to originate from marrow, physical characterization revealed that differed marrow precursors. less susceptible irradiation than precursors; former heavier latter. 95% pure suspension prepared removal phagocytes density gradient centrifugation, 1 out 16 had potentiality make W/Wv mice. Moreover, when single identified under phase contrast microscope picked up with micromanipulator, 17 made cluster. This indicated some kept extensive proliferative even after morphological differentiation. In other words, themselves may function committed
