ABSTRACT
The binding of protein antigens to APC with heterocrosslinked bispecific antibodies (HBAs) enhances their processing and presentation Th cells in vitro. Here we have asked whether HBAs could also increase immune responses vivo. We immunized mice hen egg lysozyme (HEL) the presence or absence HBA, followed antibody production after primary challenge a secondary boost. found that bind antigen MHC class I II molecules, Fc gamma R, but not surface IgD, enhance immunogenicity HEL. bound HEL for examples, decreased amount required elicit anti-HEL response by 300-fold, prime 10(3)- 10(4)-fold. In fact, were as effective IFA generating responses. Since adjuvants cannot be used humans, prove useful immunizing people, especially cases where, due scarcity toxicity, minute doses must used.
