ABSTRACT
To determine the outcome of Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia (SAB) on mortality, including impact methicillin resistance and an initial delay (< or =48 h) appropriate antibiotics, a retrospective cohort study 238 patients with SAB was performed. By logistic regression, noneradicable noneradicated foci, underlying cirrhosis, cancer were found to be independent predictors mortality. In eradicable there no significant differences in associated mortality rate between methicillin-resistant (11%) methicillin-susceptible (13%), inappropriate (13%) (10%) empirical therapy, respectively (P=.79 P=.78, respectively). it that, subgroup cirrhosis (odds ratio [OR], 3.1) (OR, 2.4) independently
