ABSTRACT
Iron spectra have been recorded from plasmas created at three different laser plasma facilities: the Tor Vergata University in Rome (Italy), Hercules ENEA Frascati and Compact Multipulse Terawatt (COMET) LLNL California (USA). The measurements provide a means of identifying dielectronic satellite lines Fe XVI XV vicinity strong 2p → 3d transitions XVII. About 80 Δn ≥ 1 (Mg-like) to XIX (O-like) were between 13.8 17.1 Å with high spectral resolution (λ/Δλ ≈ 4000); about 30 these are XV. laser-produced had electron temperatures 100 500 eV densities 1020 1022 cm-3. Hebrew Lawrence Livermore Atomic Code (HULLAC) was used calculate atomic structure rates for XV-XIX. HULLAC synthetic line intensities Te = 200 ne 1021 cm-3 conditions illustrate role opacity: optically thin no excitation-autoionization/dielectronic recombination (EA/DR) contributions intensities, that included EA/DR thick (optical depth ≈200 μm) intensities. simulation best reproduced spectrum laser. However, some discrepancies modeling remain.
