ABSTRACT
Abstract Fe 2 O 3 /TiO /AC nanocomposites were successfully synthesized via a sol–gel method, and their efficacy in decomposing methyl orange adsorption-photocatalytic processes was reported for the first time this study. Systematic exploration of physicochemical properties impacting photocatalytic activity conducted through x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy—energy-dispersive spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) characterizations. The study revealed that discoloration resulted from synergistic interplay between adsorption photocatalysis. incorporation nanoparticles significantly elevated by 70%, with additional enhancement observed upon introduction activated carbon (AC) particles. effects AC TiO /Fe photocatalysis exhibited remarkable efficiency degrading under visible light irradiation. trial functioning composite, which serves as an adsorbent, trap, co-catalyst providing active sites, improved activity. These findings not only contribute to understanding crucial role composite conjunction metal carbon-based co-catalysts but also hold valuable implications advancing research development systems wastewater treatment.
