ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect hydrated carbon 60 fullerene (C60HyFn) on ram semen quality during cryopreservation. Three ejaculates from each seven Akkaraman rams were collected using an artificial vagina nonbreeding season and pooled. Pooled samples divided into 10 equal parts diluted with tris + egg yolk extender not containing (control) 100, 200, 400, 800 nM 1, 5, 10, 20, 40 μM C60HyFn at 37°C. After addition 5% glycerol equilibration process for 3 hours, frozen in 0.25-mL straws automatic freezing device −140°C stored a liquid nitrogen container. Straws thawed 24 hours after analyzed immediately no incubation period. Motility, kinematic parameters, abnormality, vitality, hypo-osmotic swelling test (HOST), oxidative stress levels semen. Compared control, 1 5 doses increased motility HOST values decreased dead sperm rate. When compared significantly malondialdehyde (between 200 doses) glutathione peroxidase catalase activities. In conclusion, results show that nanoparticles are nontoxic their supplementation is beneficial membrane integrity freeze–thawing.
