ABSTRACT
Background: Mastitis is a common disorder among postpartum women. The discomfort and pain caused by mastitis may lead to the discontinuation of breastfeeding. Large-scale epidemiological studies examining are limited. Accordingly, present study used nationwide population-based database collect information about all women in Taiwan determine incidence related factors for mastitis. Materials Methods: This retrospective National Health Insurance Research Database records patients with during 2008–2017 then linked collected data Birth Registry. We included diagnosed as having lactational within 6 months delivery. A multivariable logistic regression model was compare risk between parity multiparous Results: identified 1,686,167 deliveries 1,204,544 19,794 20,163 had medical claim proportion ∼1.19% highest first month after Multivariable revealed that history were likely experience again subsequent (adjusted odds ratio = 5.86; 95% confidence interval 5.21–6.58). Kaplan–Meier curve indicated primiparous higher than did (log-rank test, p < 0.001). Conclusion: generally occurred postpartum, Furthermore, 5.86-fold increased recurrence deliveries.
