ABSTRACT
Introduction: Undescended testis is a relatively common congenital anomaly in male children with prevalence of 1%-2% live births. Upon discovering an empty scrotum, it important to determine whether the palpable, ectopic, retractile, or nonpalpable. A canalicular "emergent" peeping one that freely slides and fro between abdominal cavity inguinal canal. It may be impalpable initially, but at time, emerges from internal ring palpable when "milked" down (where was concealed detection). reported 15%-40% cryptorchidism are viable peeping/canalicular testis. The laparoscopic approach for treating intracanalicular undescended testes offers many advantages over open orchiopexy. maintains integrity canal eliminates need divide epigastric vessels during dissection. ability dissect testicular higher level would increase vessel length available bring scrotum without strain. aim this study present our experience evaluate management regarding operative safety, efficacy, postoperative outcomes. Patients Methods: This prospective conducted Department Pediatric Surgery, MCH Hospital, Bisha, Saudi Arabia Surgery Department, Al-Azhar University Hospitals, Cairo, Egypt, period October 2018 August 2020 safety efficacy orchiopexy retractile testes, ectopic located distal external ring, nonpalpable were excluded study. Results: on 62 70 (peeping) age range 8 months 48 (mean age: 24 months). Among them, 26 cases (∼42%) left-sided, 28 (∼45%) right-sided, (∼13%) affected bilaterally. Postoperatively, all maintained good size hydrocele hernia. One case (1.4%) required redo-orchiopexy because re-ascent scrotal neck. Moreover, there no evidence atrophy confirmed by ultrasonography. All patients had satisfied cosmetic results obtained parent's questionnaire follow-up visits. Conclusion: Laparoscopic (intracanalicular) safe, effective, less invasive, disturbance anatomy, better results.
