ABSTRACT
Riemerella anatipestifer can cause septicemia and death in ducks geese, leading to significant economic losses animal farms. The emergence of resistance R. commonly used antibiotics increases the difficulty treating infection. aim this study was evaluate utility antibiotic combination restrict mutant selection multidrug-resistant (MDR) isolates. Pharmacokinetics florfenicol chlortetracycline Pekin were evaluated using both noncompartmental analysis population pharmacokinetic models. areas under curve after single 20 10 mg/kg oral administration 49.3 6.84 mg*h/L, respectively. Chlortetracycline exhibited high apparent clearance low systemic exposure. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) prevention (MPC) values two determined 2 MDR isolates, respectively, derive fTMSW (the fraction time over 24 hours wherein free drug within window [MSW]) fT>MPC that above MPC). Both estimated from simulated concentration-time profiles relative MIC MPC. Florfenicol have additive activities against majority isolates could significantly decrease monotherapy MPC chlortetracycline, as well optimize parameters, provided bioavailability is improved. application pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic analyses concepts bacterial strains help improve short- long-term outcomes treatment
