ABSTRACT
The relatively high rate of post-operative recurrence in the treatment chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is a significant problem. Goreisan an herbal medicine that exhibits hydragogue effect by inhibiting expression aquaporins, and its efficacy preventing CSDH has been suggested several case trials. This multi-center prospective randomized controlled trial was performed to investigate preventative goreisan on recurrence. Patients with symptomatic over 60 years old undergoing burr hole surgery were enrolled this study. patients randomly allocated control group or group, which oral administration (7.5 g daily) continued for 12 weeks. primary end-point at weeks secondary volume reduction rates computed tomography scan analyses not only all ages older than years, but also divided into those under 75 old.
