ABSTRACT
Color flow Doppler sonography (CFDS) is gaining importance for the functional evaluation of thyroid disorders. We aimed to determine value CFDS etiological diagnosis hyperthyroidism. Fifty-five patients with hyperthyroidism (29 Graves' disease [GD] and 26 toxic adenoma [TA]), 24 Hashimoto's thyroiditis (HT), 39 euthyroid controls were included. Etiological diagnoses carried out using standard methods. Conventional gray scale was performed, followed by CFDS. patterns glands scored peak systolic velocity (PSV) measurements obtained from intrathyroidal, perithyroidal, perinodular vasculature. Vascular significantly more prominent, mean PSV values higher in GD compared HT ( p < 0.001) 0.001). Perinodular intranodular signals TAs controls. could differentiate untreated HT, which had similar findings. Hot nodules also be differentiated cold prominent vascular values. As an inexpensive, fast, noninvasive imaging procedure, helpful initial clinical may avoid scintigraphy a substantial number thyrotoxic patients.
